Occurred May 17, 2014.
Scene of accidental shooting in Phoenix Walmart (source)

A man was legally carrying a handgun in a Phoenix, Arizona, Walmart store when he unintentionally fired it, injuring himself in the leg and sending panicked shoppers fleeing.

Luckily, it was not a fatal wound, and no one else was injured.

From an article and news video:
Police said a man accidentally shot himself in the leg while at a Wal-Mart store in Phoenix on Saturday.

Phoenix police spokesman Officer James Holmes said the man had a gun on his hip and it went off. ...

Holmes said the man's injuries were not life-threatening.

A permit is not required for carrying a gun concealed or openly in Arizona.

Phoenix has been the city of at least three other Walmart gun crimes in the last couple years, as posted here at Walmart Shootings, including a robber who shot and killed a store manager in 2012,  a man who had just stolen a realistic-looking BB gun from the store then was killed by police when he pointed it at them in 2013, and the theft of three rifles from a store in April of this year.

Man steals three rifles from Arizona Walmart

Occurred week of April 21, 2014.

A transient man, Daniel Justin Miranda, 46, is suspected of stealing three rifles from a Walmart store in Phoenix, Arizona.  One of those rifles was sold, but later recovered.  The other two were recovered upon catching Miranda.

From an article:

Miranda was caught when last Friday afternoon some patrol officers observed an unknown subject sell a rifle, later determined to be one of the stolen rifles from the Walmart burglary, to two people in a hotel parking lot near 17th Avenue and Bell Road. The subjects bought the rifle, worth $1,497, for $200 and when they were contacted by police admitted to believing the rifle was stolen.
Both subjects were booked into jail at that time for theft control of stolen property and other charges. ....

Police established surveillance in the area where Miranda, a transient, was known to frequent, and by mid-afternoon on the 29th he was taken into custody and the two additional stolen rifles were recovered.
Holmes said Miranda not only admitted to burglarizing the Walmart, but also burglarizing a Sprouts grocery store near Central Avenue and Bell Road, also on April 25.
Miranda was booked into jail and charged with two counts of burglary, trafficking in stolen property and three counts of misconduct involving weapons/prohibited possessor, all felonies.

The article didn't say what kind of rifles were stolen, or the circumstances under which they were stolen.

Man at Arizona Walmart threatens teens with a gun and knife

Occurred February 12, 2014.

A man got into a confrontation with a group of teen boys at a Walmart store in Flagstaff, Arizona.  He then urged them out of the store, at which point he threatened them with a knife and handgun.  When they reported it, he fled.

He was later arrested and the weapons were confiscated.

From an article:
Witnesses said the man became angry when one of the teenagers started rotating a jewelry display his wife was looking at. The teen apologized but a verbal dispute ensued. One witness heard the man suggest they “take this outside.”
When the teen and his three friends followed the man out to the store’s Garden Center, the suspect pulled out a gun and a knife. At least one witness said they saw the man briefly point the gun at the teens and say, “Have you ever killed someone? Well, I have.” The teen told one of his friends to call the police and a Walmart employee told the suspect to leave immediately.
He then drove of with his wife on a motorcycle.
Police pulled the couple over a short time later near West Route 66 and Railroad Springs Boulevard. The suspect said the teen had been disrespectful of his wife and refused to walk away. He admitted he had a gun and knife in his hands during the confrontation, but denied pointing the gun at the teen. He also claimed it was the teen’s idea to go outside to fight, and said he took out his weapons because he felt threatened.
The gun and knife, as well as Walmart’s security footage, were collected as evidence.
You don't need a conceal carry permit in Arizona, and Walmart stores allow carrying of guns in their stores.

Fight at an Arizona Walmart leads to man shot to death

Occurred January 16, 2014.
Scene of fatal shooting at Chandler Walmart (source)

(UPDATED -- See below)

Two men got into an argument at the service counter of a Walmart store in Chandler, Arizona.  One of the men, Kyle Wayne Quadlin, 25, pulled out a gun and shot the other, Kriston Charles Belinte Chee, 36.  Quadlin soon fled the scene.

Chee later died at the hospital.

Police caught up to Quadlin at his home.  Quadlin claimed self-defense.

From an article:
Detectives reviewing surveillance video report that two people -- Kyle Wayne Quadlin, 25, and Kriston Charles Belinte Chee, 36 -- got into a fight in the store, which ended in a shooting around 4 p.m. Sunday, Chandler police spokesman Joseph Favazzo said in a news release.
"It appears the two did not know one another," Favazzo said in an email to media outlets Monday morning. "The initial dispute broke out at the service counter."
According to police, Quadlin was losing the fight. Favazzo said he told officers he "was in fear for his life" when he pulled a gun and allegedly shot Belinte Chee.

Quadlin remained at the store for a little while and then fled. He didn't make any other threats, according to Favazzo.

Soon afterward, a family member called authorities to report his whereabouts. Police picked up Quadlin at the home and were questioning him. He was not under arrest as of Monday morning and was cooperating with authorities, Favazzo said.

Belinte Chee was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, but later died.
According to another article, the shooter never called police, but rather a family member reported him to the police, who then responded to the shooter's home to question him.

UPDATE (3/3/14):  So far, the shooter has not been charged.  HERE you can see video of the fight and the disagreement at the Customer Service counter, which preceded the fight.  Chee is seen following the shooter toward the door, then shoving Quadlin first.  Was deadly force required?

UPDATE (3/19/14):  The widow of the slain man claims that he was defending her when he was shot to death, despite the claim by the shooter that he was acting in self-defense. Said investigators,
“It’s going to come down to what the witnesses have to say.”

Teen carries hidden gun and drugs into Arizona Sam's Club while evading police

Occurred May 29, 2013.

A 17-year old teen and a young man were fleeing police, in Yuma, Arizona, and sought cover inside a Sam's Club store.  The teen was carrying a backpack with a hidden .40-caliber handgun, cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.  They were arrested.

From an article:
According to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office, at about 6:15 p.m., deputies were sent to the area of South Avenue 4½E and East Levee Road after receiving reports that two groups of men had been in a fight involving a weapon.
One group of men allegedly fled the area inside a white pickup. That truck was spotted by deputies after it had left the levee road west of the confluence near the Yuma Palms Regional Center.
Deputies initiated a traffic stop on Pacific Avenue, and the driver of the truck, 20-year-old Victor Moreno, complied. He pulled into the Sam's Club parking lot, halting just west of the main entrance.
As deputies approached the truck, they said, Sambrano and the teen leaped out and ran into Sam's Club — the teen reportedly carrying the backpack later recovered by police.
Four other men in the truck did not flee: Victor Moreno, 21-year-old Corbin Anderson, 21-year-old Cody Trevino and 23-year-old Obed Moreno.
Sambrano and the teen who fled into the store were found a short time later with the help of Sam's Club security surveillance. They had gone to the clothing area where they allegedly shoplifted new outfits and changed into them in an attempt to evade capture.
During the search, deputies found the backpack that allegedly contained 38 grams of cocaine, 87 grams of marijuana, scales, packaging material and a .40-caliber handgun.
A YCSO K-9 unit was used to search the truck. Paris the working dog indicated the possible presence of contraband, leading deputies to reportedly discover 1.3 grams of pot.
Victor Moreno, Anderson and Obed Moreno were cited for allegedly possessing marijuana and Trevino for allegedly possessing marijuana and allegedly possessing an open container of alcohol. The four were then released.
The teen was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Juvenile Justice Center for the alleged possession of a dangerous drug and misconduct with a weapon.
Sambrano was arrested by Yuma police officers for suspected shoplifting and false reporting to law enforcement after allegedly providing false identification to police. He was booked into the Yuma County Adult Detention Center but has since been released.
The second group of men involved in the fight at the confluence has not been located.

Man threatened by meth druggie wielding realistic-looking BB gun at Arizona Sam's Club

Occurred March 8, 2013.

A man in a Flagstaff, Arizona, Sam's Club parking lot was held at gunpoint by another man who was apparently high on meth.  The victim was able to convince the gunman to put away the gun and leave peaceably.

The gun was later determined to be a realistic-looking BB gun.

From an article:
A 22-year-old man told police he didn't know it was a BB gun when a man pulled a gun on him in the Sam's Club parking lot last week. According to a police report, the suspect was riding his skateboard when he jumped off, produced a gun and said "I hate to do this to you, but meth makes you do crazy things." The victim told police he debated trying to grab the gun away, believing the man was going to kill him. The suspect appeared to be high on meth and was constantly fidgeting, he said. The man pointed the gun at the victim's chest, as well as his own chest, but never demanded anything. Eventually, the suspect gave him the gun, he told police. The victim put the gun in his waistband and talked to the man about "life" for about 40 minutes. The victim was a former meth addict and talked to the man about Christianity, the report said. Eventually, the two hugged, said "God bless" and went their separate ways. The man later called police and gave them his description, but said he didn't want to get the suspect in any more trouble than he was already in. Police collected the gun from the man and determined it was a BB gun, but an officer said you wouldn't have known it wasn't real unless you manipulated it.

The man, 39-year-old Chuckie Stowers, was known to panhandle outside the Walmart and was found with the registration of a recently-stolen car on him.

Investigators said the three officers spotted Stowers leaving the store.
"As soon as he got past the doors, the suspect turned toward the officers and reached into his waistband, pulled out a black handgun and pointed it at the officers," said Crump.
Walmart shopper Pauline Viselli tells CBS 5 News she was in the store when the shots rang out outside in the parking lot.

As two Walmart employees at a store in Phoenix, Arizona, were moving money into a cash register, a man robbed them.  When a store manager, 47-year-old Peter Marquez, tried to stop the robber just outside the doors, the robber shot him and killed him.  The shooter escaped.

The incident began inside the store when the suspect confronted two employees who were exchanging money into cash registers from a shopping cart, Thompson said.

He then briefly paused to take some of the money out of the shopping cart and fled eastbound, crossed 75th Avenue and jumped a fence into a residential area, Thompson said.

"He was a good, loving person," said an employee who would only identify herself as Angela. "He always had a smile on his face, and he was always here before his shift started."
