Man shot and killed by transient at a Colorado Walmart

A 61-year old man was gunned down in the parking lot of a Walmart store in Aurora, Colorado.

A transient, Daniel Fougner, 54, has been arrested for the shooting.

The victim has been identified as 60-year-old Robert Goldsberry.

Arapahoe County Deputies have arrested a transient in the shooting death of a man in a Walmart parking lot Monday night.

The 61-year-old victim was shot multiple times in the parking lot on South Parker Road.
On Monday night, deputies said they were questioning a person of interest in the shooting.

Tuesday, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office said deputies had arrested transient Daniel Fougner, 54, on suspicion of murder in the first degree.

Fougner is being held without bond.

Man with realistic pellet gun shot and wounded by police at Colorado Walmart

Police responded to a domestic violence call at the Lakewood, Colorado Walmart store.  There, a man identified as Alex Martines, who had  a realistic-looking Airsoft pellet gun was threatening a woman, and then he pointed the gun at police.  He was shot with bean bag rounds, as well as real bullets, and wounded.  It was only afterward that police or the woman found out the gun was a pellet gun.

One officer thought the woman who was threatened was an employee of the store.

Davis said around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, a woman involved in a domestic dispute with a man called police from a car parked on the east side of the Walmart located on the corner of Wadsworth Boulevard and West Colfax Avenue.

During her call for help, police say the woman told them the man in the car with her had a gun.

When police arrived, they used a loudspeaker to coax the man out of the vehicle. Davis said the man drew a weapon and pointed it at officers.

Two officers fired several shots from their service weapons, but the man would not let go of his weapon so officers then fired bean-bag rounds to knock the weapon out of the man's hands.

Witnesses told 9NEWS they heard a "volley of shots" - about 8 to 12 initially - and then several more shortly after.

Davis said the suspect was hit by the rounds officers fired but would not indicate how many times the suspect was hit by bullets from the officers' service weapons or the bean-bag rounds. Davis did say he believed the suspect's injuries are not life-threatening.

The woman who was in the car with the suspect was not injured and is being interviewed by police.

Neither the woman nor the police knew the man was armed with an air gun instead of real firearm.

Drug offender found with loaded gun at Colorado Walmart store

A man who was suspected of shoplifting was approached by police outside of a Walmart store in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  He was found to possess a loaded gun a large quantity of meth.

A 26-year-old man was arrested Saturday outside a Walmart store for allegedly possessing "a large quantity of methamphetamine' and a loaded gun, police said. 

Nelson Franceschi was arrested shortly before midnight outside a Walmart at 3201 E. Platte Ave., near North Circle Drive. An officer at the store suspected Franceschi was shoplifting and was possibly armed, so the officer called for backup. 

More officers arrived and arrested Franceschi on several felony allegations, including a special-offense drug charge.

Colorado woman shot at by boyfriend behind Walmart Neighborhood Market

Robert Marquez, 34, and his girlfriend got into an argument, behind a Walmart Neighborhood Market in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  He threatened to kill her with a gun, and when she ran from him, he fired at her.

He has now been arrested and charged with several related crimes.  Marquez has a prior arrest record.

It was Tuesday afternoon at about 3 when police were called to a report of shots fired at the Walmart Neighborhood Market in the 600 block of North Murray Boulevard. That’s near the intersection of Platte Avenue and Murray Boulevard.

A woman victim told police Marquez, her boyfriend, became upset at her and assaulted her in the car. She said she jumped out of the moving car behind the store to get away from him.

She also said that as she was running she heard what she thought may have been a gunshot. Police said the woman claimed Marquez had threatened her with a gun before she got out of the car.

Man steals thousands of rounds of ammunition from a Colorado Walmart

A man entered a Walmart store in Centennial, Colorado, forced open a locked case, and stole around 2,100 rounds of ammunition, loading it into a shopping cart.  He then left the store and fled.

On Oct. 14, 2013, the man entered the Walmart store at 10900 E. Briarwood Ave., forced open a locked case containing ammunition, loaded the ammunition into a shopping cart, and rolled it out of the store, the sheriff's office said. The suspect then reentered the store and was seen leaving with a bag containing unknown items. 

The sheriff's office said the man stole: 

--About 1,000 rounds of .223-caliber ammunition, which can be used for military assault rifles like the AR-15 and bolt-action "varmint" hunting rifles.   

--About 1,000 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, which can be used for military-style rifles, including AK-47 assault rifles. 

--About 100 rounds of .40-caliber ammunition, which is primarily used for handguns.

Colorado man threatens to shoot woman over a Walmart parking space

A woman, Shakia Bush, and her four children were waiting for a car to exit a handicapped parking spot, in the parking lot of a Walmart in Aurora, Colorado.  That's when an impatient driver, Justin West, confronted the woman and threatened to shoot her to death for blocking his way.  The woman called for help, and the man fled.

West was later questioned, but evidence wasn't strong enough to arrest him.

She and her family had gone to Walmart on South Chambers at Parker Road to get some food when they were confronted by a man with a gun, who was angry that Bush was waiting in the traffic lane for another motorist to vacate a handicap parking space. 

“He yelled at me to move out of the way,” Bush told 7NEWS.  “I yelled back and told him to drive around me.” 

She said that when the man continued yelling, she got out of her car to explain that she had a handicapped child and needed the handicap parking space. 

“That’s when he really started yelling obscenities,” she said. 

Bush said the other driver then went back to his car and grabbed a gun. 

“He showed it to me in the air, then held it to his chest and said, ‘B****, I have a gun. I will shoot your a**.” 

Bush said the threat startled her, her sons, ages 10 and 11 and her niece and nephew, ages 5 and 2. 

"My 10-year old son was saying ‘Mommy, he’s going to shoot you. I don’t want him to shoot you,’” she said. 

Bush says she yelled, “He’s pulling a gun on a woman,” loud enough so that bystanders could hear.  She then called 911 on her cell phone and read his license plate number to the operator. 

“That’s when he got back into his car and took off,” she said. 

Police used the license plate number to identify the other motorist as Justin West.
Officers went to his house to get his version of events. 

According to the incident report, West told police that he honked at the woman and she started yelling at him.  He said they got into an argument and at one point, Bush’s rear car door opened. He said he thought, “People were going to jump out and attack him.”
He said he told the woman, “I have a gun and will defend myself.” 

“What was he defending himself from?” Bush asked, “a mom and four kids?  He was angry over a traffic incident. He hopped out of his car first and started yelling and screaming at me.” 

The Aurora mom said neither she, nor anyone in her car threatened West.
West makes the same claim. 

According to the incident report, he told police that “he never pointed the gun at anyone and never threatened to shoot anyone.” 

Police say Walmart’s security video shows Bush’s car blocking traffic, and West pulling up behind her for about 60 seconds. It also shows West getting out of his car and the two arguing for about 60 seconds. They say it shows West waving and pointing his left hand “but you cannot see a gun in the video.” He then gets back into his car and drives away. 

The report does not state why West got out of his car, nor why he didn’t just drive around Bush. 

“I think he felt a woman was talking back to him, so he needs to prove a point,” Bush said. 

When asked if there was evidence of menacing, Aurora police spokesman Frank Fania said, “There is no evidence to support felony menacing. Witnesses and video confirm the gun was never pointed at anyone.” 

The police report does state that investigators examined and photographed the gun at West’s house. It was “a black .45 Remington model 1911 with a full magazine of ball ammo in the weapon and no round in the chamber.” 

So far, no charges have been filed, but Bush says as far as she’s concerned, West broke the law. 

“I really feel that people need to be held accountable for their actions,” she told 7NEWS. “My children were scared that something was going to happen to them.” 

Former Denver prosecutor Karen Steinhauser said a gun doesn’t have to be pointed at someone for a felony menacing charge. 

“It’s menacing if your intent was to put someone in fear of their life,” she said. “The question investigators have to ask is, ‘was he in fear of imminent harm?”

Shoplifter threatens employees with gun in Colorado Walmart

A man shoplifted items from a Walmart in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and then displayed a gun as he fled the store with the merchandise.

Police said a man left with merchandise without first paying for it. As he was leaving the store, police said he passed by store employees and displayed a handgun. 

The suspect was described as a white man, 30-35 years old, about 6’2" and 240 pounds with a muscular build. Police said he had a shaved head and goatee and was wearing a long grey collared shirt with blue jeans. 

Police said he left in a white minivan with brown wood grain panel along the sides.

Armed robbery of ammunition at a Colorado Walmart

Occurred January 22, 2013.

A 19-year old man, Kevin Aguirre, tried to buy ammunition at a Walmart in Longmont, Colorado.  When he was denied due to being too young, he returned with a gun and threatened the clerk and a customer, then fled with a box of stolen ammo.

Minutes later, police arrived and, after Aguirre threatened suicide, captured him.  Aguirre was also being tried for unrelated pedophilic sex crimes prior to the incident.

From an article, which focuses on the endangered customer, Army veteran Chris White:

White said the employees told him he was too young to buy bullets and the young man walked away briefly, only to return moments later with a gun and demand the ammunition. 

"I am a veteran," White said. "You point a weapon at me, I take it seriously." 

Police arrested Kevin Aguirre on suspicion of the robbery at 9:15 p.m. at a mobile home park on the 1400 block of South Collyer Street, where he had a standoff with officers while threatening suicide. He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated robbery and three counts of felony menacing in the robbery, according to reports. 

Police reported that Aguirre was despondent over an unrelated crime he was accused of committing. Police arrested him on suspicion of sexual assault on a child with a pattern of abuse on Tuesday night, as well. According to reports, he is accused of committing sexual acts with a younger family member, beginning when she was 5. He is scheduled for filing of charges Friday in Boulder County Court. 

White said the robber at Walmart pointed the gun at him, the clerk and the assistant manager while demanding a box of ammunition. One of the Walmart employees complied with his command.

Shots fired outside a Colorado Walmart

Occurred December 7, 2012.

Two men have been arrested for firing a gun multiple times outside the Walmart at Castle Rock, Colorado.

They may be linked to a spree of shots-fired reports around that county, including into a Jehovah's Witness hall.

[The shooting spree] apparently came to an end near the Walmart Friday night. Ten to 15 shots were reported outside the store in Castle Rock with a truck being hit. A special Douglas County crimes unit responded and moments later police stopped a car and arrested Nicholas Deters, 20, of Larkspur and Tyson Olson, 29, of Parker. 

Deters and Olson have been charged with illegally firing a weapon, criminal mischief and reckless endangerment. Olson was taken to the Douglas County Detention Facility and Deters is now out on bond.

Man steals shotgun from Colorado Walmart display case

A man broke into a display case at a Walmart in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and stole a shotgun.

Police say around 2:10 a.m. Wednesday a white male broke in to a gun display case at the Walmart on Space Center Drive and fled the store with a shotgun. 

Investigators are looking for a small silver, possibly early to mid 90's Honda that the suspect was seen jumping into.The vehicle fled the area before officers arrived. 

Surveillance video showed the suspect to be a white male in his mid 20's with brown hair, wearing a large coat.

Gang shooting in parking lot of Colorado Walmart

Occurred July 2, 2012.

In what appears to be a gang-related incident, a man shot another man in a Walmart parking lot in Greeley, Colorado.  The victim went inside the building, while the shooter fled police outside.  He holed up in an apartment briefly before being arrested.

Police say a man was shot in the parking lot of a Greeley Walmart, located at 3103 23rd Avenue, just before 12:30 p.m. Monday.

The victim made his way inside the store, while the suspect took off on foot towards Evans.

Police tracked the suspect to an Evans apartment complex in the 2900 block of Skyline Drive where he barricaded himself inside one of the units, police said.

After a brief standoff with police, the suspect surrendered without incident. The victim's condition is not known. Police have not released the identity of the suspect.

Police say the shooting was gang related.
