Police detective commits suicide by gun in California Walmart parking lot

Occurred November 27, 2014.

A Los Angles Police detective, Dennis Derr, committed suicide in his car, while parked in the parking lot of a Walmart store in Palmdale, California.  He was facing accusations of molesting two female relatives who were teens at the time of the alleged abuse.

From an article:
Dennis Derr, 52, was found in his car in the parking lot of a Walmart in Palmdale on Thanksgiving morning, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, news outlets reported.
The Los Angeles Times said Derr was a 17-year LAPD veteran, and a detective since 2006. Derr was assigned to the Van Nuys division of the LAPD, the paper said, and had worked on a team that handled sexual assault cases.
He had also served as a pastor or bible studies teacher at two churches, his son Philip told the paper.
A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department sergeant confirmed two adults had made sexual abuse allegations against Derr.
The abuse had allegedly occurred when they were teenagers, the Times reported.
The relatives informed Derr's wife of the abuse, Philip Derr said. She wrote her husband a note saying she was aware of the allegations, and left the family home while he slept, Philip Derr said.
Dennis Derr wrote an email to family members the following morning, Nov. 27, making what the paper described as "a vague denial'' of the allegations, and suggesting he had decided to kill himself.
His body was discovered later that day.

Two men, Oscar Cruz, 39, and Edward Lovato, 18, were observed shoplifting in a Walmart in San Leandro, California, and fleeing the store.  Walmart security personnel pursued the two men, caught them, and were escorting them back inside when Cruz pulled out a handgun and opened fire.  No one was hit.

Police arrived just as Cruz opened fire and took him into custody.

From an article:
When the men exited the store, the guards confronted them and asked them to return inside to be cited. As they walked back in, the 39-year-old suspect, who police said is a felon, tried to escape.

The guards then grabbed the men in an attempt to arrest them, and a scuffle ensued inside the front entrance of the store.
During the confrontation, McManus said, the 39-year-old suspect pulled out a gun and began shooting. Police have not released the number of shots fired.

McManus said customers and at least 10 employees were at the front of the store when the shots were fired. "It got violent very quickly," he said. "We are lucky that no one inside the store was hit with gunfire."

Officers later located the suspects' vehicle in the parking lot, and a search turned up a loaded, high-caliber handgun inside. Detectives were investigating whether either of the firearms were reported stolen.
The injured suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He remained hospitalized in stable condition Monday under police guard. Both men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, attempted robbery and for various firearm-related charges.

Both men have a criminal history.  From another article:

Cruz, who is on probation after a domestic violence conviction, suffered injuries during the struggle with loss prevention officers and was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
Officers found a loaded, high-caliber handgun inside a car parked outside the store belonging to the suspects, police said.
Last Thursday, Lovato has been spotted driving a stolen car near his home, police said. He gave up, was arrested on suspicion of auto theft and possession of stolen property and was released from jail with a future court date.

San Leandro had another Walmart shooting back in 2011, on "Black Friday," when a man was shot in the neck during a robbery.

Robber fires gun in California Walmart

Occurred May 6, 2014.
Scene of shooting at San Diego Walmart (source)

A man fired several shots into the ceiling of a San Diego, California, Walmart store, in the College Grove area, during a robbery, before fleeing with stolen cash.  Luckily, no one was injured.

From an article:
According to witness reports, the gunman approached a cashier at the store at 3412 College Ave. The man described as a heavy set African American male with dreadlocks demanded money from one of the cashiers. After demanding the cash the suspect fired a shot, then moments later fired another shot.

Several dozen shoppers were hiding in the building then fled through multiple exits.

The suspect left the scene in what authorities describe as a silver Mustang with possibly a white door.
The San Diego police robbery team will investigate using eye witness accounts and several cameras that surround the grounds.

Police say the gunman fled with an unknown amount of cash, speeding away at 100 mile per hour onto nearby state Route 94.
Is this the same College Grove Walmart store where another, similarly-described robber fired shots during another robbery, in November 2013?

According to this article and news video, it is the same robber.  Witnesses described the chaos as shoppers attempted to flee the building:

Police believe the robber who fired a gun inside the Oak Park Walmart this week is the same man who robbed the store six months ago.
On Tuesday night, shoppers at the Walmart on College Avenue, just north of State Route 94, rushed to the exits after a man fired three shots inside the store.
Jonathan Brown was shopping for shoes when he said he heard two gunshots. Then he saw a large crowd heading to the back of the store.
“People were falling over and stuff, really trying to get out really fast so I was like, this must be serious,” Brown said.
Chaos followed with people running for the door, picking up their children and pushing and shoving each other to escape, he told NBC 7.
“It was just crazy, people were running everywhere," he said.

Federal officers were in Fairfield, California, looking for two brothers who were wanted for attempted homicidal shooting.

One brother was found in the parking lot of a Walmart store.  When the man presented a gun, the officer shot him.

The other brother, who also had a gun, was shot by a police officer across the street, 30 minutes later.

From an article:
One suspect, Markell Davis, 27, of Fairfield, was located behind the Walmart at 2701 N. Texas St. Around 2:46 p.m., a U.S. Marshal approached the Davis, who was armed with a handgun, according to authorities. Police said the suspect was shot by the federal officer, but did not say what led to the shooting.
About 30 minutes later, a second suspect, identified as Cory Davis, 33, of Suisun City, was found in an apartment complex across the street by Fairfield police. Davis, who was also armed, police reported, was shot by an officer. Police did not say what led to the shooting.
No officers were injured in the incidents. Both suspects were taken into custody.
It turns out this is the second time that one of the suspects, Markell Davis, has been shot in the last year.  From another article:

A second vehicle pulled alongside them on the 2000 block of Claybank Road in Fairfield, and an individual inside that car or truck opened fire, hitting both Moore and Markell Davis. A lady driving in the region who was not involved in the confrontation was struck by gunfire.
Moore was arrested in that case, and Markell Davis had been sought as well. Police did not elaborate on Markell Davis' whereabouts following he was shot in February.
Cory Davis, meanwhile, had been sought in connection with a shooting that occurred in Vacaville on Feb. 19, police mentioned.
